Early spring monument cleaning

The client needed several flat headstones cleaned in the family plot, but also wanted this large monument to be spiffed up. Continue scrolling for more details.

The monument had years of algae and biological growth on it, as well as some vines that had taken over

It took quite a while to clean all the pillars with their intricate design.  I used a lot of elbow grease and D2 Biological Cleaner to get the job done.  In this photo you can see the D2 working on the stone in the "blush" stage, when portions with biological growth turn orange at the cleaner works.

Here is the completed project just a couple weeks after cleaning.  The monument will continue to turn whiter as the D2 Biological Cleaner continues working with sunshine and rain.

Family plot in Wake County field that property owners wanted cleaned up

This monument is more than 8' tall, and has extensive lichen growth

Foot stones stacked on top of this headstone will be installed next to the corresponding headstones

This headstone is covered with black mold, but will clean up nicely!

Completed in July 2023 - the Mount Sylvan United Methodist Church cemetery at 5731 North Roxboro Street in Durham, NC.  The church desired to keep the cemetery in pristine condition, and issued a contract to clean approximately 270 headstones.

Currently working on some family plots in Maplewood Cemetery in Durham and the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.  Below are some of the headstones that families requested to be cleaned. (summer 2023)
